Re: Big fun at McDowell Festival...
Oh yeah indeed! I concur with cush, a VERY good time was had by all (minus the LONG +12hr drive each way) I like airyzona! Friendly people, dooable weather-(in the shade, that is). With the fear & loathing of the bs2 drama ringing in my brain, the internet faded away like a mirage and up sprang a desert rose in it's place.
Cush212 and friend became a welcome reality and great company to go with 2daze of excellent music. The standouts for me on fryday was Gelatinous Groove, Tea Leaf Green and Ratdog. We all found a nice shade tent with H20-misters to cool any sunbaked brains enduring the heat of the day.
Happy hour with the $2 Sierra Nevadas (7 varieties) was a yummy time indeedie!
On saturday, Papa Mali started my band wagon (or as far as i remember) but into Jackie Greene, a desert sandstorm blew in and the band made an abrupt scramble to safety.
I was bouyed by cush's observation that such sandy episodes are SOP in the desert and no biggie...me and a few friends retreated to the car and worked on making the interior smoky to embellish the sandy exterior....
It all soon passed, most all of the panicy touristas returned and Railroad Earth pulled into the station and saved the day.
To any kind posters here, cush is a fine, venerable hippy and his friend was perhaps, the happiest person I've meet in years-! Toots was very good and intense, lots of energy...I'd expected the normal reggae laid back...those dudes had the place dancin!!
Los Lonely Boys. a high powered trio of Santana meets Stevie Ray Vaughn. Guitar Hero's big time. Full volume baby!
I would of had Ratdog close both nights, but hey, Los Boys are definite rockers.
All the above is written by a burned out me, so perhaps furthur posts will improve as my memories (hopefully)return.
It was a GRATE show, though. I had not done a 2daze in a row music thingie for years.
